Weather forecasting vs your wardrobe.

We’re smack bang in the middle of that awkward in-between season. The time when leaving the house means getting ready with everything Mother Nature’s got to throw your way. Rain, hail, shine, wind and more. Right now, we’ve got a case of The Goldilocks. Too hot. Too cold. You’re unsure if you’re coming down with something or if, maybe, just maybe, you didn’t need the 45 layers you reached for in this morning's ice-cold temperatures. Throw in your office AC and it really makes your day the worst blind date that you’ve ever been on.

It’s not, though, all hot flashes and cold sweats. Reaching for season-proof styles will save just about any day. A lightweight trench, a great sweatshirt, a heavy drill shirt. Pieces you can throw on and strip off, mix and match. We like to be easy, breezy, beautiful, no matter the forecast. Layer relaxed silhouettes with hard-wearing classics. This time around, denim is on high rotation. As are easy-wearing neutrals to feel fresh. A leather jacket, too, is an easy save, be it over shirting, a knit or a summer-ready dress. Layer a sweatshirt under a blazer, a turtleneck under your slip dress.

Our editors uncover essentials you can mix all year round.

A lightweight trench can fool any outfit into thinking it’s winter-ready. Also a great way to get those pins of yours out after a long season of hibernation.

A printed skirt is perfect to run with femme shirting, sweats, knits … You get the drift. This piece is a true all-rounder.

Denim and leather. Really, there’s no stronger or more classic combo. The trick here is to play with proportions. Push your sleeves up and crop those cuffs. And, always, throw in a trusted turtleneck.

Make your all-in-one work hard all year round. Trick it up with a classic-cut shirt and pristine white trainer.
