Sometimes you want to wear more than your standard t-shirt and jeans combo, something that’s not your everyday uniform. Think something fancy, something with a little more glamour, something worthy of a special occasion.

So, pump up the volume this party season with overstated prints, bold colours and brave silhouettes. But where? Not everyone is into the races, so we’ve rounded up a list of go-to’s that call for glam.

Go on a date
Whether you already have a special someone or if you need to source one from Bumble, there’s no better excuse to dress up than date night. (We should clarify, though, that contrary to what a certain boyfriend thinks, date night is not ordering pizza in and falling asleep by 7pm.)

Organise a brunch
Brunch is the best. It’s like breakfast but later – so you get a sleep-in AND you can have alcohol. Double win. There are plenty of bottomless brunches doin the rounds and if you’re Bondi way, be sure to book into Panama House. Theirs runs from Friday through ‘til Sunday. Did someone say mimosa?

Get your culture on
Art galleries usually have opening nights where the drinks and the champagne are on them. Check out the galleries in your area – it’s the perfect excuse to get some friends together, dress up and enjoy a cheeky mid week drink (or three).

Say yes
As great as Netflix is, your highly-honed talent of being able to watch an entire series in a single sitting is not really conducive to wearing anything other than sweats. So: RSVP. Say YES to all you’re invited to. Dinners. Parties. Openings. Of envelopes of otherwise.

Watch someone else say yes
Wedding season is here in full force and what better excuse to roll out your finest than watching two good pals say I do. Best of all, there’s an open bar and drunk Aunties to dance with. Get ready to dance the Macarena (more than once).

Here’s some outfit inspo for you…
