Lucky enough to get the afternoon (or the entire day) off this Tuesday 7th November? Consider celebrating with a refreshing cocktail and a bite to eat. From rooftop tiki terraces to revamped dive bars - these are the top places to enjoy an early escape from work.

1. SYDNEY: The Dolphin

Everyone in Sydney knows the story of The Dolphin - previously a dive bar, it’s been given a new lease on life with a stylish renovation, recreated as a fun, trendy and large space. With plenty of indoor and outdoor areas and an impressive menu, The Dolphin in the perfect spot for those who want a nibble with their tipple. Plus, it’s only a short uber ride if you’re heading from the races, and a good stopover if you plan on kicking on in the city afterwards.

2. MELBOURNE: Transport Public Bar

As the name suggests, the Transport Public Bar is well, transport central, so if you’re looking for an easy and laid-back place to chill after the hype of the races, this is the one. With a fresh, clean decor and an outdoor seating area, it really is the destination to kick your feet up and unwind with great food and even better company.

3. ADELAIDE: Africola

Africola is Adelaide’s funky-as-anything bar and dining hotspot. Best known for their impeccable and interesting menu, this bar is the perfect spot for anyone riding the energy of race day, especially those who could use a delicious snack or two to get them through!

Sixes and Sevens

4. BRISBANE: Sixes and Sevens

Sixes and Sevens is an oldie but a goodie, and not to be missed when you want to have a few drinks with, let’s say, more than just a few of your close friends. With the food and drink being among Brisbane’s tastiest, plus plenty of space for large groups to mill around beneath the trees in the outdoor terrace, it’s the perfect spot to spend the whole day turfside.

5. HOBART: Preachers

If you’re looking for something a little more fun, then head to Preachers. Best known for its funky bus parked in the seating area (that, yes, you can hang out in) it’s also got the type of menu that you’re likely to crave after a vino or two - think carbs with a side of carbs and topped with a generous dose of gravy. The Holy Poutine is a crowd favourite, and their craft beer specialties go down a treat.

6. PERTH: Tiki as FK

An impressive Tiki bar with attitude, plus a panoramic rooftop with city views - Tiki as FK is a place to check out even if you’re not celebrating. With beautiful interiors and a luxe vibe, this place will revive and refresh you after a long day in the sun, or a half day at the office.
