Do it his way: Jaden Smith

To start: wear whatever the hell you feel like.

Jaden Smith. He caught his break pursuing happiness and hasn’t stopped since. Born of Hollywood royalty, he’s been famous forever. Or his whole life at least. He’s 20 going on who-knows-what.

For Smith, it seems, all things are possible. He convinced T Magazine he was “drunk on prana energy” and told GQ he never sleeps in and “built a pyramid” and, dammit, we believe him. Is there nothing this kid can’t do?

Seems not.

He got down for Baz Luhrmann, magic with A$AP and Tyler, the Creator. He’s the Karate Kid who calls Bieber a friend. He has Billboard hits, his own radio show and right now he’s working on (another) album.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, they did good with this one. Real good. A rapper, an actor, a philosopher, a style icon. Around him, sister’s closet is far from safe. Be his outfit planned or picked up off his – or her – bedroom floor, he’ll rock whatever he wears. A blazer. A hoodie. A skirt. Has been named “the future of fashion” by Interview Magazine, and the actual future by Pharrell ‘Happy’ Williams. And any wonder. His look, its always on point.

The utility vibe

Green on green on green. The trick with the military-hued vibe is to keep it out of uniform territory. Play with textures, experiment with shapes. Team a chunky knit with the smooth cotton drill of a bomber jacket and then throw in some interesting silhouettes. Own that tone.

Weekend warrior

Big shapes in printed T-shirts. Think plenty of room to move / grow. Layer black on black and then through in some muted tones for contrast.  Who needs Google Maps when you have this tee? Take a cue from Smith: it’s time to go your own way.

Steal her style

Smith calls his school Mystery School (population: his sister and himself), so it goes to show he can make up his own uniform. Wear it like you stole it. (Sorry Willow.)

Feels like teen spirit

Again with the colour blocking but this time it’s bubble gum pink. Pop on pop, layer a long sleeve T-shirt with a short sleeve and keep your cool. Wear it with washed-out high-rise denim for those 90s feels.
