How does Donald Trump do it? In any one day the leader of the free world manages to create a perfect twitter storm, bring forth world war three, and inspire us all with his style – all before most of us have had our second coffee. And sure, influencing the minds of the American people is a big deal, but the fashion set? Now, that’s real power. Not convinced of his fashion prowess? Well then, let’s take a look at a few of the ways he’s influenced our style.

The Oversized, Ill-fitting Jackets:

Umm hello? Oversized blazers are one of the biggest trends of the season. Make no mistake, his ill-fitting jackets have nothing to do with the fact that he doesn’t look in the mirror before he starts his day of world domination – it’s a totally deliberate, on point fashion statement. And sure, old D-Trump may go for the more conservative black over our current fave, Prince of Wales check, but duh, that’s because he’s a president, not a prince. Regardless, he was all over this trend before we knew it was a thing.

The Baggy Pants:

Remember last season when we all got into the ‘90s? And how not that long ago normcore was a thing? D-Tiddle basically made that happen. Not only was he wearing loose, crinkled suit pants IN the ‘90s, he never stopped wearing them. Like, he knew all along that baggy pants would be a thing again and all he had to do was wait it out… for 20 years or so. Now that’s a true, dedicated trend-setter.

The Red Ties:

Donny knows all about a statement piece. But, unlike us mere commoners who can rock a fringed bag or cat-eye sunglasses, when you’re Prez you still have to roll within the “uniform”. Which is precisely why instead of flashy watches he opts for a statement red tie. Keeps it classy. And his hue of choice just so happened to be THE colour of 2017… the first full year of his presidency. Coincidence? We think not. He truly does have his finger on the pulse.

The Ginger Hair:

Before Harry became the hot prince, before Ed Sheeran sang his way into our hearts, Trump was rocking his special shade of ginger around town, and totally owning it. So the question begs to be asked: Did he, in fact start the ginger appreciation club? Is he the reason we’re #teamginger these days?

OTT Bronzer application:

Yeah, nah. There’s no way we can spin this one. The only lesson here is a cautionary one: what not to do with your bronzer.

See what we mean? Total fashionista. So, next time the man takes to the Pressroom to make some stupid comment about how to ruin America, ignore the words and instead look closely at what he’s wearing. It just may be what you’ll be wearing next season.

Thankfully, we've got a few suits that fit a little better - see our latest arrivals.
