‘Do you love it?’

‘Are you crazy about it?’

These are the questions the Manning Cartell sisters – Cheryl, Vanessa and Gabrielle Manning –  ask themselves on the regular. And, when it’s an indisputed ‘yes’,  that’s where the magic happens.

It’s a good way to do life. A hell yes or a hell no mentality. A commit or quit kind of affair. If you’re in, you’re all the way in –  and they should know. They’ve been in since 2012. The Cartell is made up of the three sisters, is Australian-made and has and a completely ethical supply chain.

Their latest collection is made up of statement pieces you’ll want to wear on the daily. Rose-tinted, electric pink comes in tailored floral jacquards and lightweight chiffons. ‘Meta Metallica’ they called it and it’s 90s minimalism hits 80s futurism (they even made a pink suit). Expect rose-hued strong silhouettes and soft tailoring, and all of it, sustainable.

We caught up with the women behind the Australian label to find out a little more about why – and how – they do what they do.

What does 'ethical' mean to you?

Ethical is demonstrating that you value the people who make your products, no matter where they work or how they fit into the supply chain.

Tell us about the dynamic of working as sisters?

As sisters we have an innate sense of each other, there is trust and support and we have the same drive and vision for Manning Cartell.

What could you not live without?

Our family.

What inspired the Meta Metallica collection?

Modern utility meets metallic futurism, our SS18 collection ‘Meta Metallica’ combines 90s minimalism with the allure of the 80s.

This collection has some very bright moments...

Colour is a unifying element in all of our collections, the palette this season focuses on 80s pink and metallics with the desert tones of the 90s.

What's the stand out for you in the collection and why are you drawn to it so?

The Kyoto Calling Blazer and Pant, it’s such a statement look.
