Word has it that Princess Diana used to sneak her boys William and Harry out to grab Macca’s burgers before heading home to watch telly on a Saturday night (much to her private butler’s objection). But apart from the golden arches, you don’t really just stumble upon a place that royals like to visit.

There are the well-known ones, like St Paul’s Cathedral, where Prince Charles and Diana got married. It was chosen as THE VENUE of their big day as it allowed for a long procession through London, where a seriously huge crowd gathered to watch the event.

Then there’s Kensington Palace, where many royals have lived, including Diana. And of course, Westminster Abbey, where Diana’s funeral was sadly held. But what about all the other lesser-known spots? Don’t worry, we’ve got you.

Here’s our secret go-to guide for all the places that have the royal stamp of approval…

1. For your hair...

Daniel Galvin Salon

Yes, Princess Diana had any stylist at her disposal ready to pop into Kensington Palace to do her look, but she often chose to visit Daniel Galvin Salon in Kensington in person. She apparently used their services for 10 years - now that’s a loyal customer. The owner Daniel recalls that one day she dropped in for a manicure with one of her baby boys. “Princess Di said, ‘I’ll look after him, you look after my nails!’” he reportedly said.

2. For movies...

Odeon Cinemas

Just like other fams, Diana would take William and Harry to the movies on occasion. They reportedly watched The Jungle Book at Odeon Cinema on Kensington High Street. In more recent years it’s been William and Kate’s go-to cinema too - they watched The Avengers there. Are you a Thor fan too, Kate?

3. For breakfast…

Cafe Diana

Yes, this cafe in Notting Hill was named after the lady herself back in 1989. She became a regular at Cafe Diana and would visit with William and Harry. The boys would reportedly get bacon and eggs, while Diana was partial to a cappuccino and croissant. The walls were hung with pictures of the princess, and it’s said that she visited just a month before she passed away.

4. For flowers…

Kensington Flower Corner

Meghan Markle has been known to shop for flowers at Kensington Flower Corner, which is a pop-up shop right near Kensington palace.

5. For jewellery…

Butler and Wilson

Diana would pop into this store on Fulham Road for earrings - and liked to buy gifts for friends here. She apparently shopped here with Sarah Ferguson a few times.

6. For a night out…

Bombay Brasserie

Even royals like to let their hair down. Comedian Cleo Rocos was one of Diana’s friends, and they hung out together. “She would regularly sneak out on her own, in disguise, to go to places round the corner from the Palace,” Cleo wrote in her book The Power of Positive Drinking. “I remember drinking peach Bellinis with her, Kenny [Everett], and Freddie Mercury at the Bombay Brasserie nearby, before we all went up to Kenny's penthouse to continue drinking.”

7. For working out…

The Harbour Club, Chelsea

Diana was known to hit the gym and play tennis at this club in Chelsea. Kate Middleton is also said to have worked out here in the lead up to her wedding, and has been seen with Prince William and sister Pippa in tow getting their sweat on. Makes sense - Wills doesn’t exactly take us for a Crossfit kinda guy.

8. For a date…

Dean Street Townhouse

Meghan and Harry apparently had their secret first dates at the Soho Houses, after Meghan’s close friend Markus Anderson (consultant to the chain) introduced the pair. Of the first time they met, Prince Harry has famously said: “I was beautifully surprised when I walked into that room and saw her.” That room was reportedly Dean Street Townhouse in London, owned by Soho House - and the pair have returned since then.

Now, has anyone got a private jet we can borrow for the weekend?
