Suits is so much more than a question of how many episodes they can spin out of the sexual tension between Harvey Specter and Donna. They’re your spring occasion main game, the no-brainer to looking sharp, every time.

Sure, the season calls for it with all its race days and weddings and whatever else you’re obligated to show up at, but tailoring is back in a big way. We’re seeing clean-cut blazers as the uniform of choice on the streets at the shows in New York, Paris and now London and suiting creep its way into everyday wear.

So, what suit should you be reaching for this season?

It’s time to find fresh cuts and new favourites. The need-to-knows? Keep it light – spring events call for lightweight blends, something you’re happy to reach for no matter the temperature. And go for a lean fit – look for length in the jacket and close tailoring in the pants.

Also: be bold. It’s not a court appearance / funeral. It’s an event! Chances are there were even printed invitations. So, find a suit that celebrates the occasion. Go for bold checks and pinstripes. Navy, sure, is a safe choice, but don’t fear lighter blues, khaki tones and shades of grey (... the latter is supposed to be an especially good time).

Dress it up – or down – with your accessories of choice. Think loafers, no socks. Play with shirts, ties and even crew neck t-shirts.

Choose a style that will work with the rest of your wardrobe. Really push that cost per wear to the limit. Wear the jacket with your jeans, the pants with a simple shirt and loafers.

Here’s our pick for the season...
