Whether you go as far as avoiding every crack in the pavement or you refuse to tell anyone your wish after blowing out the candles on your birthday cake, it’s in our nature to be somewhat superstitious. Even some of the biggest sceptics have some sort of ritual habit they always stick to, like only wearing their wedding ring on the third finger of their left hand – that tradition started as a superstitious belief that the connection to the so-called “love vein” would keep their loved ones closest to their heart… except it doesn’t actually exist.

People tend to believe in superstitions particularly when they’re trying to find other reasons for life’s misfortunes, so we thought on the unluckiest day of the year we’d share some of our style superstitions to send a little good fortune your way.

People tend to believe in superstitions particularly when they’re trying to find other reasons for life’s misfortunes, so we thought on the unluckiest day of the year we’d share some of our style superstitions to send a little good fortune your way.

1. Wearing blue brings good luck

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the luckiest colours for 2018 are blue and green, as well as earthy colours like brown, yellow and beige.

2. Putting your shoes on in a specific order will bring your life balance

Some people suggest left foot before right will bring you bad luck, but historically people believed the right foot was stronger therefore that shoe should be worn first.

3. Arranging your shoes in a T-shape will lead to love

Apparently if you place your shoes with one heel touching the instep of the other and repeat the rhyme “Hoping this night, my true love to see, I place my shoes in the form of a T” the person you’ll marry will appear in your dreams that night.

4. “A purse on the floor is money out the door”

A common Feng Shui philosophy is that if you place your bag on the floor you show disregard for your money and wealth, so best keep your clutch in hand.

5. Gifting a bag with a bit of cash brings prosperity

If you’re planning on giving a bag as a present, then be sure to hide some coins in the pocket – it’s believed to bring wealth to whoever receives it and is good karma for you too.

6. Lucky charms for health and protection

Certain charms on bracelets and necklaces are thought to bring you good luck, protect you from evil and even strengthen your health and wellbeing.

So, if your Friday is feeling particularly freaky, why not add some luck to your cart?
