The summer blazer, not to be confused with any other tailored jacket, is a warm-weather essential. What makes a blazer more “summer” is what it’s made of. Check the fabric content and look for styles made using a higher percentage of plant-based fibres (cotton and linens = good, polyester = not-so good). Also, see if the jacket is lined or not; no lining means less hot.

You can easily style your summer blazer with the same party shirt you would’ve worn, but if you want something that looks and feels much cooler, wear it with a tee. Any tee will do, just make sure it’s clean, not crumpled. Make things easier for yourself and keep it simple by sticking to plain colours and avoiding prints.

Complete your summer suit look with chinos or tailored linen pants, and choose shoes you can wear without socks – let them ankles breathe in boat shoes, for example.
