There are simple hacks in life to look like you’re prepared to drop more coin than you actually do. Think expensive-looking Brand Name soap in your practically rent-controlled apartment. Bringing a top shelf bottle of wine to that picnic date (catered for by your local chook shop). And: a really great pair of sunglasses that will upgrade your whole outfit – no matter what it is.

Sunglasses are an all-year-round and – for when a hangover comes a calling – very necessary accessory. They’re a time-honoured essential – James Dean was a Wayfarer kind of guy, Steve McQueen wore aviators like nobody’s business and, and Elvis, well, just call his style ornate.  No matter your style, the key with accessories, always, is to go premium. You want something that looks, and feel pricey. It’s the finishing touch that can – in an instant – elevate casual jeans and tee combo, or you can rock with your suit.

Shades are an investment piece, to be sure. You wear them on your face, for goodness sake.

As an investment piece, it’s super important you take good care of them so you can be sure you maximise your cost per wear. Keep them A-Grade, always. Try to resist the temptation to clean these babies on your shirt – chances are, you’re only going to make more of a mess and scratch and smudge in the process (trust us, we’re talking from experience). But if it’s a desperate-times scenario, always be sure to blow away any dust before you try to wipe them down. The easiest way to clean them is to simple rinse under lukewarm water and then use a little soap and rinse again and dry with a lint-free cloth (that is, the one they came with). And, yeah, they come with cases for a reason – be sure to use it.
