She’s celebrated her Silver, Golden, Diamond and Sapphire Jubilees, spent over 65 years on the throne and been in the public eye for over eight decades. Queen Elizabeth definitely has staying power. And so does her wardrobe.

And while she wears her crown well, she’s also had some definite style highlights, starting with her classic signature Launer handbags and more recently her tailored coats in many colours.

Here are six times that the reigning monarch killed it in the fashion stakes!

This beautiful forest green tulle dress is just so '50s… and pairing it with ivory accessories is eternally elegant. It makes it look less formal than it might have otherwise. And considering she is visiting us down under in this pic (it was taken in Melbourne in 1954), less formal was a safe bet.

Not everyone can get away with fur and a tiara, and though we’d prefer faux fur every day of the week, you have to admit Elizabeth II looks regal as. This photo was taken in the 1950s but the style factor here is timeless.

We’re definitely feeling this yellow and white fitted jacket. It’s fun and stylish at the same time and just perfect for her 1970’s visit to Sydney.

Rocking dark green once again… We’re in love with the silhouette of this matching fitted suit, not to mention those corgis! Here she is at Aberdeen Airport to start her holidays in Balmoral, Scotland in 1974.

We can’t help but love this royal style moment… Not only is she driving her own car even though she literally has hundreds of people to do that for her, she’s also wearing a scarf decorated entirely WITH DOGS. You just can’t beat that.

Black and white, what a classic style combo and doesn’t the Queen know it! Look how she (or her stylist, let’s be honest) has added black gloves and a matching black handbag to contrast with the cream contours. Here she is leaving the controversial (at the time) marriage service of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles at Windsor Castle on April 9, 2005.

We couldn’t finish this list in any other way that by showing this image. Sure, the Queen looks nicely put together in a Chanel-esque suit and her signature black gloves, but we love this pic for the simple reason that she has always had her own distinct style. And it’s this confidence that means she can blend in anywhere, even at British Fashion Week sitting next to the queen of style herself, Anna Wintour.
