Looking for a partner in crime for the perfect night in? Here's five of our finest, the films we are more than happy to have on repeat...

'Stranger Than Fiction'

For a love story with a twist …  watch Stranger Than Fiction

“As Harold took a bite of Bavarian sugar cookie, he finally felt as if everything was going to be ok…”

Maggie Gyllenhaal, a baker who not into paying taxes, falls for Will Ferrell (Harold Crick), an I.R.S. auditor. All the while, Ferrell’s character, finds his life and seemingly imminent death narrated by an unknown but extremely well elocuted author.

For a good time… watch Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

“The question isn't what are we going to do. The question is what aren't we going to do.”

This is a 1986 classic. Whether on this day of days you’re a Sloane, a Ferris or a Cameron, this movie has it all. Including a leaving a 1961 Ferrari 250GT California they don’t own unattended and in reverse. If you haven’t seen this, make it a priority.

'Hunt For The Wilderpeople'

If you want something funny… watch Hunt For The Wilderpeople

“Uncle, you're basically a criminal now. But on the bright side, you're famous.”

This is the can’t-stop-laughing story of the most unlikely of friendships that begins when child welfare services deliver the young troubled self-proclaimed gangsta Ricky Baker to a foster home in the middle of nowhere in New Zealand. He and his now-uncle (who isn’t that red hot on him) go bush and accidently spark a massive manhunt. There’s a car chase, a gigantic wild boar and some pretty decent raps by Ricky. Good one to watch with the fam.

If you’re feeling kind of dark… watch Heathers

'Heathers'

“If you were happy every day of your life, you wouldn’t be a human. You’d be a game show host.”

Another late 80s classic. A black comedy that many cite as the original mean girls. It’s got bad boys. Explosions. Croquet! What more could you want? Plus: Winona Ryder and Shannen Doherty. You’re welcome.

'Only Lovers Left Alive'

For something indie… watch Only Lovers Left Alive

“How could you have lived for so long and still not get it?”

Centuries-old blood-sipping lovers (Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston and, yes, they’re vampires) are interrupted from their reverie by little sister Mia Wasikowska. Directed by Jim Jarmusch, this film is beautiful, slow and enthralling. A very different kind of Twilight.
