Our team here at THE ICONIC comes from all around Australia (and beyond!), so, to celebrate International Coffee Day this October 1st, we asked them to tell us about their favourite coffee...

1. Sydney: Neighbourhood

In a market as competitive as Sydney, there was a lot of controversy about picking our all time favourite. We settled on Neighbourhood, located in leafy Surry Hills. Within just a few weeks of opening, their superb coffee had gained them a loyal following. It’s a neat, tiny and charismatic little set-up that opens out onto the streets. There’s no fuss and no muss here - order a great coffee, and you’ll get it with a smile.

2. Brisbane: John Mills Himself

John Mills Himself isn’t easy to find, but the coffee makes the journey worthwhile. Tucked down a driveway in an old refurbished space is a small team of passionate brewers creating some of the best coffee Brisbane’s CBD has to offer. Head in on warmer days to taste their homemade cold drip, or after dark where something a little stronger is available.

3. Melbourne: Hardware Societe

Located amongst a mish-mash of restaurants and cafes on Hardware Lane is the stand-alone Hardware Societe - a Melbourne caffeine-fix with a cult following. The coffee speaks for itself, which the crowds attest to; but a stellar menu of food offerings keeps the crowds around longer. It wasn’t easy to pick a favourite in a coffee scene like Melbourne, but Hardware Societe is tough to beat.

4. Adelaide: Coffee Branch

Adelaide is more famous for it’s wine regions than its coffee, but local star Coffee Branch is making moves to change that. Uncomplicated, just like the name, they guarantee a caffeine hit teamed with excellent service, all within a buzzing atmosphere. Light lunches and pastries are available as well, but it’s true star - the coffee - is purposely left to enjoy the spotlight on its own.

5. Perth: Typika Artisan Roasters

Located in a warehouse on Stirling Highway, this hipster joint offers an amazing coffee experience within exposed brick walls. Go for the coffee - or two, or three - and stay for the atmosphere. Coupled with excellent food, you’ll be licking the plates clean for them.

6. Hobart: Zimmah Coffee

Described by locals as the best place to go for a morning pick me up, the beans at Zimmah are roasted on site each day to maintain the freshest coffee available. Hidden off the main road, Zimmah has a fantastic atmosphere, with a delicious menu and a great range of blends and single origin coffee - you’ll struggle to choose!

Have we got you craving your next coffee yet?
