Why Slip-Ons Are Our New Favourite Sneaker Style

Who can be bothered with laces, amirite?

Getting dressed in the morning is no easy task. First of all, we’d prefer to spend as much time wrapped in our doona burrito as possible, and secondly, now that the chill of winter has finally caught up to us, there’s the added pressure of putting together an outfit that doesn’t leave us shivering in the cold. Sure it’s easy enough to roll out of bed, throw on a jumper, a scarf and your favourite pair of jeans and get on with your day but what about your shoes?

It’s way too cold to keep wearing slides with absolutely everything - on the plus side, it means you can make your pedicures stretch for at least a few extra weeks. Ankle boots are all the rage but they’re not always the most comfortable, especially when you’ve got errands to run, so sneakers are often your only option. They tick all the right boxes; comfy, cool and keep your feet warm, but then who can be bothered with laces? They’re usually miles too long and they have the tendency to come undone at the most inconvenient times (read: when you’re trying to avoid a puddle or using a public bathroom - yuck), which is why we’re ditching them altogether and opting for a pair of slip-ons.

Vans have just re-released their Classic Slip-On sneaker collection, with new backless Slip-On Mules added, and we can’t get enough.

Lazy girls rejoice because these sneakers will revolutionise the way you get ready in the morning. Literally just slip on and go.

Wear them with everything from jeans to dresses, track pants to tailoring. You can easily sneak a plain black and white pair into the office with tapered pants and a boyfriend blazer - so profesh.

When it’s extra cold out, team your Slip-On Mules with a pair of socks to fight the chill, then go without once summer rolls around.

They’re not your average skate shoe either. They’ll look just as good with a floral skirt or floaty dress as they will with tomboy trousers and dirty denim, which is perfect because they come in mens sizing too.

So if you’re all about truly effortless dressing, and you’re looking to extend your time in bed every morning, forget about your other shoes and step out wearing a pair of Vans Slip-On sneakers.
