She's a mental health campaigner and British model changing the way the world sees beauty. On her first trip to Australia, Jada Sezer describes what she loves most about her job and how she aims to inspire curvy girls.

"The last three months down under have been nothing like I could have expected. I had the warmest welcome, literally and from Australians themselves. Having three months of constant sunshine definitely makes me a nicer human.

It has been great to slow down a bit from the crazy buzz of London and take time. The best part has been spending time in nature, whether it’s been immersed in the beautiful ocean of the Great Barrier Reef or under a waterfall in a national park or shooting on the red sands of Uluru. Spending time outside and seeing some views that photos just can’t do justice.

Now I’m going back to London, training for a 26.2 mile run in April and by the end of the year I plan on moving to LA.

Studying my MA in child psychotherapy, it became apparent that so many young people with eating disorders, anxiety and body dysmorphia were suffering due to the lack of representation in the media. So I took to social media and started campaigning and posting images of myself. They went viral and I was asked to be the face of the first ever plus size show during London Fashion Week. An agency approached me after that and I was signed.

I’m so grateful. Modelling gives me the opportunity to travel, live overseas, learn about other cultures and most importantly, use my platform to continue championing self esteem, self development and mental health.

I've developed a tougher skin than I used to have because of the nature of the job. This is a job where you are essentially booked on your beauty. I've learnt to accept rejection and not take it personally.

I’m honestly grateful for my entire body, particularly now that I’m training for the London Marathon. I'm running A LOT and my body is getting stronger. A year ago I had an accident and was on crutches for 4 months. Not having full use of my legs gave me a fuller appreciation for every part of me, even the cellulite on my legs or the love handles on my hips. My body is strong and works and that makes me confident.

If you’re someone who is lacking confidence at the moment, my advice would be to find out where the self narrative or message of self doubt comes from, then change it. Build up your confidence by engaging in things that make you feel empowered, that you love. Surround yourself with people and things that give you that same feeling. Negative energy is contagious and worth protecting yourself against.

The goal is to build an empowered community, teaching them the tools for self development and essentially unwavering self esteem."
