We enjoy a nail moment. In fact, we feel our nails are basically the ultimate accessory that’s attached to our bodies. They can transform your look… and you’re not alone if you feel naked without having them done.

Even Jocelyn Petroni, the go-to manicurist for anyone who’s anyone in Sydney, performs a regime for those who want the naked nail look, but it’s a much more polished (without polish), put-together version. Because we all know actually-naked nails are not always the most presentable.

FYI, The Naked Manicure, offered at the celebrity manicurist’s Woollahra salon, achieves a high-shine glossy look without the polish. It includes a keratin nail treatment, and hand and arm massage, and it’s suggested you get it weekly for five weeks, then fortnightly to maintain the high-shine and healthy nail look.

Chloe Morello often rocks nude nails and we love it with a denim jacket...

null

Nude nails are also ideal for those in corporate jobs or who just like to steer clear of anything too trend-based. Wear with your pants-suit at your power lunch, obviously.

The nude look is certainly having a comeback, thanks to the resurgence of pared-back beauty that’s popular among French women (much like washing your hair and letting it air-dry for ultimate cool-girl vibes). But there’s no shortage of more experimental looks that are having a moment right now...

Leopard talons

We’re obsessing over leopard-print shoes, but the trend has also extended to nails. We saw Gigi Hadid wearing hot pink leopard nails at a Jeremy Scott show, and it’s taken over. By the looks of what celebrity manicurist, Nails By Mei, who has clients like Hailey Baldwin in New York, is posting on her IG feed, it’s a trend that’ll only get bigger.

Diamond art

It was all about the 3D embellishments backstage at a Creatures of Comfort fashion show recently, with single diamantes topping off the models’ solid-colour manicures. We’ve seen it infiltrating our Instagram feeds too, with neon yellow being a huge colour of the moment, seen on everyone from Kylie Jenner to Erica of Fashion Lush. Team it with white sneakers.

Glitter tips

Forget the rainbow glitter bombs of the schoolyard. The grown-up version this season is all about an all-over silver on long nails, as seen on Kylie Jenner. For a more chilled, at-home version like the ones seen on recent Cushnie Et Ochs models backstage, simply paint your nails in a clear glossy polish. Let that dry, then swipe on a silver glitter polish just along the top quarter of each nail. Let that dry and top with a final layer of clear polish. This pops nicely against sherbert shades of lilacs, pale pinks and pistachio green, so have fun with cosy knits under overalls.

The new nude

The neutral of the season is a little more exciting than we’re used to. Go with your usual pale pink or cream, then add a super thin line along the centre of each nail, like Jamie Genevieve has done in a burnt orange shade. Hers a very long (which is very in among the IG set), but for a more typing-friendly version, keep them short and shiny.
