17 Things We Wish We’d Said (But Tina Fey Beat Us To It)

“Do your thing and don't care if they like it.”

Tina Fey is kind of like Elaine in Seinfeld. She’s awkward and hilarious and unafraid to tell people to GET OUT.

Plus, she does a wicked Sarah Palin impression. So good that it raked in the biggest ratings for Saturday Night Live since Nancy Kerrigan – the ice skater who had her leg busted by Tonya Harding – played host way back in ‘94.
Fey’s BFF Amy Poehler told Vanity Fair she’s the “type who sits on the side and watches everybody else belly-flop in the pool, and then writes about it.”

And boy, can she write. She wrote jokes for Fallon and gave us the gift of Mean Girls and the can’t-stop-watching 30 Rock, among others.
Her real skill though?
She knows Beyonce’s XO album verbatim and is unafraid to lip synch / dance on request (YouTube this for a really good time).
You won’t find her on social because “why would I give away my jokes for free?” So, instead, we pulled the below from Bossypants – her book and our guide to better living…

“It is an impressively arrogant move to conclude that just because you don’t like something, it is empirically not good. I don’t like Chinese food, but I don’t write articles trying to prove it doesn’t exist.”

“If you retain nothing else, always remember the most important rule of beauty, which is: who cares?”

“In most cases being a good boss means hiring talented people and then getting out of their way.”

“You can’t be that kid standing at the top of the waterslide, overthinking it. You have to go down the chute.”

“You have to remember that actors are human beings. Which is hard sometimes because they look so much better than human beings.”

“Sometimes if you have a difficult decision to make, just stall until the answer presents itself.”

“Sometimes you want to have a very productive Saturday to feel that you are in control of your life, which of course you are not.”

“It will never be perfect, but perfect is overrated.”

“Whatever the problem, be part of the solution. Don't just sit around raising questions and pointing out obstacles.”

“Contrary to what I believed as a little girl, being the boss almost never involves marching around, waving your arms, and chanting, ‘I am the boss! I am the boss!’”
