"However, despite having a positive exterior, I struggled with self-esteem; I noticed my eyes weren’t big, that I had monolids, I had many freckles and moles on my face, and I didn’t feel pretty. So, I found solace in playing video games with my friends, and it became an outlet for me to not think about myself. It’s something so relaxing, and I’m in my element. I’m also the happiest when I just spend several hours playing Dota 2 for example with my mates, despite not being the greatest at it. It did take me many years, but I eventually came to love my monolids and freckles. In my late teens I noticed how beautiful Xiao Wen Ju was. She was this gorgeous Chinese model with monolids. I saw how confident she was, and realised that I too could rock my monolids. When I started loving one part of me, everything else I hated soon started falling in line too.”
