"I’ve always felt different, the unpopular Polish boy growing up among Australians who had what seemed to be the perfect life.

Nelly Skoufatoglou

“My parents’ lives were torn apart by WW2, surviving concentration camps, so I grew up listening to war stories not nursery rhymes. I realised how liberating being different is and I’ve always lived my life outside the predictable. I didn’t finish university. Instead, I travelled throughout Asia and Europe and became a DJ and played to packed dancefloors on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. In the 80s, I worked in an uber cool clothing store in Sydney called Gary Wolfs and sold my icon, David Bowie, a suit during his Serious Moonlight Tour. I still have his autograph. At my time of life it’s good to continue being different and show the world that you can be 60 and fabulous and not grow invisible.”
