If you haven’t seen the trailer for Greta Gerwig’s 2019 adaptation of Little Women – first of all, how?? And secondly, here it is, go watch it, it’s just shy of 3 minutes and it’ll give you all the wardrobe inspo you need for spring.
Maybe we’re biased because of the empowering message of the movie and the all-star cast (Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Laura Dern, Timothée Chalamet AND Meryl Streep!) but we think a modern take on mid 19th Century fashion might just be all we want to wear this season.

Hear us out. Ditsy floral prints are our natural go-to for spring anyway, puffy sleeves are already on almost every dress and top we own, and our straw hats and basket bags have been patiently waiting to come out and play since last summer. But that’s not all we’re picking up from the March sisters.
Costume designer Jacqueline Durran has also made a convincing case for heritage checks, androgynous tailoring and big, billowy dresses, and she’s not the only one doing it either. These trends are taking over the catwalk too, just look to the fall collections from Anteprima, Anaïs Jourden, Kenzo, Isabel Marant and more for further proof.
On the horse-drawn wagon yet? Here’s how we’re making Victorian-inspired fashion feel fresh for spring.
