Leather conditioner is the maintenance item you need. Your R.M.Williams boots are thirsty and they’re not the only ones. Apply some conditioner to your leather belts, bags, shoes and jackets, at least at the beginning of winter, and they’ll feel brand new again – you’ll almost hear your favourite boots sigh with relief.

Scarves can be the hardest working item in your wardrobe thanks to their ability to be worn 150 different ways and jazz up even the plainest basics. Our favourite ways to wear them during the cooler months are as a necktie to add a pop of colour to a beige trench coat or braided into a ponytail.

Bag straps. When you have a handbag you love and don’t want to retire it when the strap gets a bit worn, simply swap it. It’s a great way to give your old handbags a new lease of life, or change their look with a splash of colour or chain detail.

On the subject of bags – upgrade your weekend carryall. Having one nice carry-on or weekender bag will transport your luggage in style, protect your shoes, accessories and beauty essentials, and ensure you look put together from the gate to lounge access.

It’s really easy to clean your sneakers (and your Birkenstocks). A shoe cleaning foam, old cloth and a brush or old toothbrush can work wonders to revive footwear that’s seen fresher days. Try it before you part with worn pairs.

Finally, rest your knitwear. With winter approaching, jumpers and cardigans are going to be on heavy rotation for a few months, but did you know, wool needs 24 hours to rest and reset its shape in between wears to look its best? Have a couple of sweaters ready for the season so you’re never caught short on ‘rest’ day.
