22 Thoughts We Had While Watching The Barbie Movie

It’s been the most-talked about movie for what feels like forever so when Greta Gerwig’s Barbie premiered in cinemas last week, we just had to watch it. Did it live up to the hype? Here are our thoughts: 

1. The Barbie Dreamland set is on point, it makes me miss my childhood Barbie toys and wish I never got rid of them (I bet my Barbie campervan is worth a fortune now).
2. Loved Barbie’s costumes (especially that one Chanel look that’s making me consider statement necklaces again) but Margot Robbie’s press tour outfits were better – I think I was just expecting more looks to feature in the movie.
3. Is there anything Ryan Gosling can’t do? I would watch a Barbie musical just to see more of Ken’s singing and dancing, someone please make that happen.
4. Seeing feet so close up on the big screen is vom (even if they are as close to perfect as Margot’s) but I loved that scene and 100% would’ve picked heels over Birks…unless maybe I was offered Barbie Crocs or ballet flats…
5. Speaking of flat, some of the other jokes didn’t quite land so everyone in the sold-out cinema was sitting in awkward silence. 
6. It’s long. Not Oppenheimer-long but easily could’ve ended 30 minutes earlier.
7. Would I watch it again though? For sure! It’s fun, nostalgic and the casting was incredible.

18. One thing that this film has taught us is that Margot Robbie can do no wrong.
19. I know that there was all this kerfuffle about Ryan Gosling being cast for this film but I honestly can’t imagine anyone else better for this role. 
20. All I know is that I need the “I am Kenough” hoodie 
21. I will never be embarrassed about my flat feet ever again
22. The battle of Kens could’ve been shortened i.e. the dance montage could’ve been cut (sorry, but also not sorry)
