From trench coats to the new office-appropriate matching sets, make your weekday mornings that little bit easier with workwear styling tips that stand the test of time. Kiara King aka @lioninthewild shows us five chic looks to recreate this week, and reveals the one outfit she’d happily wear as a uniform, even on weekends.
What’s your best advice for building a solid workwear wardrobe?
The perfect workwear wardrobe shouldn’t just be functional, but also interchangeable, which means each piece can be styled with one another. Regardless of whether you like muted neutrals or bold prints and colours, getting dressed in the morning is never easier when you can mix and match, creating new outfits with your favourite workwear styles. Oh, and you get bonus points if you can style them from day to night, weekday to weekend!

Tailored vests are one of this year’s biggest trends, what’s your tip for making them look chic?
To be perfectly honest, it’s very hard to get the vest trend wrong, whether you’re wearing it as a stand alone top, or layered over a shirt or under a blazer. I love the fitted style of the M.N.G Valeria Vest paired with the matching trousers for a polished yet chic look, or a more oversized longline vest that’s effortless and relaxed. Add a structured bag or bold metal accessories to modernise the ensemble.
If you could only wear one outfit as a uniform, which one would you choose?
That’s an easy one – the oversized shirt and trousers combination. Not only is it ultra comfy, but you can style the look up or down, from work to the bar to the weekend, with the quick half tuck of the shirt, the switch of a heel to chunky sandals or sneakers, or the swipe of a bold red lip. My go-to look for over a decade, it will surely stand the test of time.
