"My mother, Myrna, would enter me into pageants with the hope of bringing me out of my shell. As I am the only girl in my family, it also provided some mother and daughter time for us as well. Mum and I have always been close, and to this day she supports me the same way as in the beginning. I will never forget the look on Mum’s face when my Australian VOGUE cover came out, she was so proud ... Not only that was there was an indigenous model on the cover of such a high fashion magazine, but that it was her own daughter! She still has a framed copy hanging in the lounge at home! From that shy kid in a distant town, I am so proud to have made it to the forefront of the fashion community. As a goodwill ambassador for quite a few different charities (World Vision, Make A Wish and Barnardos) I hope that I can impart some of my experiences onto a whole new generation.”
