Have You Considered… How Your Wardrobe Contributes to Charity?

If you’re on the hunt for a style update, consider the brands that contribute part of their profit to charity.

The 5th September is the International Day of Charity, declared by the United Nations as a day to raise awareness and increase solidarity, social responsibility and public support for charitable organisations which focus on helping the poorest and most vulnerable.

From donating money to a charity of your choice to volunteering your time at a local organisation, there are many ways you can get involved. Shopping with brands making a positive impact is also one of them.

As part of THE ICONIC Considered edit, we’ve highlighted the products that meet our sustainability credentials, one being that they support community engagement by donating to charity with each purchase, or donating 1% or more of all profits to a charitable cause.

So, before you’re tempted by our mid-season sale for a spring wardrobe update, consider shopping brands that donate to charity on your behalf first. Here are just some of our favourites and how they’re helping.

Auguste the Label

Through this ethically-minded movement, the Australian womenswear brand has pledged to donate 1% of their annual sales to charities that are close to their heart.

Patagonia

Another proud member of the 1% For the Planet movement, Patagonia has pledged 1% of sales to the preservation and restoration of the natural environment since 1985. Founder Yvon Chouinard is so passionate about protecting the environment he created a non-profit corporation, together with Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, to encourage other businesses to do the same.

Ocean Mantra

Committed to supporting our oceans, Ocean Mantra is a proud supporter of the Australian Marine Conservation Society’s Great Barrier Reef Campaign, and donates 10% of all profits to marine conservation. In addition to this, 100% of profits made from their coral-shaped drop earrings from their Belle Mare collection (pictured above) goes straight to charity.

Levi’s

Since their beginnings in 1853, giving back to the community has been as much a part of Levi’s heritage as their blue jeans. Investing a portion of their annual earnings to The Levi Strauss Foundation, the denim brand helps provide funding to a variety of disadvantaged groups and causes around the world. Their moto: giving back never goes out of style.
