Known for its wild styling and irreverent themes, Mambo was born in 1984 as a side project by founder Dare Jennings (also founder of Deus ex Machina) and his business partner Andrew Rich. It’s garish graphics and commentary take on all things Australian has made it one of our nation’s most beloved brands.
Its focus on art and politics paved the way in a logo heavy surfwear industry. Images like Mental As Anything member Reg Mombassa’s ‘Australian Jesus’, or Richard Allen’s farting dog became brand staples.
