Why should Sydney have all the fun?

One of the biggest and most celebrated events of the year takes place every February and March on the streets of Sydney, promoting diversity, inclusion and equality on a global scale. We’re talking about the Mardi Gras, of course!

One of the oldest continuously operating LGBTQI+ events in Australia, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras was born from one single political protest in 1978. Forty years on, the true Mardi Gras spirit lives on, burning brighter than ever before.

If you live in Sydney, it’s a sure spectacle not to be missed. But if you’re not a Sydneysider, here are some great LGBTQI+ events to attend around the country:

As its name suggests, the Hot and Steamy Festival is located in Queensland’s tropics, offering a picturesque getaway for those looking to relax, dance and/or party. There will even be an appearance by showgirl superstar Millie Minogue, dubbed the ‘third Minogue sister.’
