2022 has been a typically flamboyant year in the world of big-time menswear looks. The last decade or so has seen the red carpet rulebook almost completely rewritten, with shirtless suits, bare skin and flashes of bright colour just as welcome at the world's most glamorous events as the classic black tie fare. But which well-dressed men took things to another level and delivered the best men's fashion moments of 2022? Read on and find out.
The 2022 Met Gala

After what was admittedly a pretty lacklustre awards season from a sartorial perspective, the Met Gala's American Anthology theme lent itself well to plenty of showstopping tailoring, allowing the guys to truly shine. Silk tuxedos and double-breasts were all the rage, while some shirked the assignment entirely – who could forget Sebastian Stan's neon pink Valentino tracksuit?
The Top Gun: Maverick press tour

The long-awaited sequel to Tom Cruise's fighter pilot classic arrived as both a box office smash and a surprise critical darling midway through this year, initially premiering in the European summer with what felt like an almost endless run of press and premieres. Naturally, this allowed the film's mostly male cast to shine, with Cruise, Miles Teller and co. showing out in an array of excellent suits.
Timothee Chalamet at Venice

Timothee Chalamet premiering an indie at Venice in some kind of outlandish Heider Ackermann fit has become so regular you can basically plan your calendar around it, and once again the king of the softbois delivered. Stepping out in a blood-red (on-theme given he was there for the premiere of Bones and All) backless satin waistcoat, matching pants and Cartier jewellery, it was one of the androgynous fashion moments of the year.
Chris Pine's mega 2022

After a few years on the sidelines, Chris Pine hit his Brad Pitt era in 2022, largely ducking and weaving the controversies that surrounded the rest of the Don't Worry Darling cast and casually serving on every red carpet as he did so. With swept back long hair reminiscent of another well-known Chris and an array of excellent tonal tailoring, he was a regular fixture in best-dressed lists basically everywhere he went.
Harry Styles' World Tour

The ever-stylish singer, actor and 2022 Spotify wrapped mainstay has spent most of this year on an expansive World Tour supporting Harry's House, playing numerous sell-out nights at some of the globe's biggest stadiums. Naturally, his on-stage garms have been on-point basically every night, with Styles almost invariably draped in outlandish designs from Allesandro Michele's Gucci and JW Anderson.
