‘Space to Dream’ is a free online challenge for children and young people in South Australia. The best toys or gadgets designed for someone moving to Mars will be exhibited at the MOD Museum of Discovery! Kids can take part solo, in a group or register as a school.
Ice-skating – Darling Harbour, NSW
For two weeks only, be transported to a winter wonderland in the heart of the city, complete with obligatory penguin skating-aids to help the little ones stay upright on the ice.
See stars – Perth Observatory, Bickley, WA
Science and history come to life amid State forest at the state heritage-listed Perth Observatory. Its 120-year history has resulted in a heritage collection identified by the National Library of Australia as “unique in Australia” and of “national and international significance”.
Hahndorf Farm Barn – SA
Get up close with the animals at Hahndorf Farm Barn. Here, you and the kids can have a go at milking a cow, feed the lambs or take a pony ride in the Adelaide Hills.
Publish your own books – Melbourne / Online
Over six weeks, you’ll be guided in book making alongside local artists sharing their ideas and stories to get you started. All you need is paper, glue, scissors and your imagination! Every Friday, artist Brigid May will choose one newly-created book to read aloud in the virtual ‘Book Cubby’.
