Mercy, tell us who you are, what do you do?
“I’m a model from Sydney and have spent time living in London and NYC. Also play around with writing and photography.”
What has lockdown looked like for you?
“Recovering from Covid-19 means a big focus for me has been my health.”
How did you feel finding out you had it?
“It was still in the early days of the pandemic. I was one of the first few hundred cases here so when I got the phone call letting me know I’d been exposed it felt very surreal!”
What has being sick taught you on the other side?
“It’s made me incredibly grateful to live in a country where we have a good and free healthcare system. The doctors and nurses who cared for me were fantastic. It’s underlined how important the community surrounding you is. The care and support I had from mine is what really pulled me through, they were amazing dropping off care packages, calling and facetiming. Truly loving.”
Has it changed the way you’ll do anything in life?
“It's definitely taught me to slow down…made me realise what’s truly important…to focus my energy on what brings me joy…”
What have you found the most fun way to keep busy?
“Long walks – being in nature is breathtaking and so important for mental health – cooking, reading, redecorating my apartment and my sister’s (via FaceTime).”
Have you discovered any hidden talents?
“It's very cliché but I’ve rediscovered baking which I haven’t done much of since I was a child. I’ve been making cakes and pies and dropping them off to friends. Creating something and sharing it with others is a great joy.”
Wardrobe-wise, what are you living in at home?
“I’m loving beautiful long dresses…something about them feels so luxurious but relaxing. I’m obsessed with a good print… They truly bring me so much joy. Now that it's getting cold I’ll layer with a knit or hoodie.”
