Another day, another beauty trend on TikTok, and this one might just convince you to change up your entire makeup routine. Latte makeup is here and this bronzed, beachy aesthetic is not only super wearable, but extremely flattering.
TikTok creator Rachel Rigler @rachelrigler first coined the term in a video – that’s now at over 2.4 million views – where she described the look as “warm and bronzy, milky and effortless.” The latte makeup looks referenced in Rachel’s video were created by Australian makeup artist Tanielle Jai (@taniellejaimua) who made her own video explaining how she created the look. “We’re all about those bronze, warm caramel tones. That’s the key: caramel,” explained Tanielle.

You might think this trend should be reserved for the summer months, but thanks to the chocolatey tones and soft finish, latte makeup is the perfect look to warm up your complexion during winter.
Move over Vanilla Girl beauty, we’re ready to make latte makeup our entire personality. We asked beauty expert, makeup artist and founder of Basics By B, Bonnie Gillies, to share her must-haves for recreating the viral latte makeup look.
What Is Latte Girl Makeup?
“The latte girl makeup trend refers to makeup that has bronzy, dewy beach vibes. The latte look has no hard liners or bright colours, just a palette of creamy browns and bronzes.”
What Are Your Tips For Getting the Look?
“My main tip would be underpainting your contour and bronzer. This means applying a cream bronzer or contour under your foundation. This creates a beautiful but subdued shape and tone for the rest of the makeup. And for eye makeup, instead of just adding any colour eyeshadow, think of it as adding natural looking contour to the eyes.”
What’s In The Latte Girl's Makeup Bag?
“The Bobbi Brown foundation sticks are great for the base and to use as a contour. You can choose a colour a few shades darker than your skin tone and use it to sculpt and contour the face before you apply foundation. Brows should be kept super natural looking and slightly brushed up and feathery. Try using the Benefit 24 Hour Brow Setter to get the perfect brushed up brows.”
