Your Spa at Home Edit: Self Care Ideas for the Ultimate Night In

Go ahead and ghost the group chat for the night. When life gets busy, taking care of yourself is often the first thing to slip, so consider this your cue to slow down and make a little time for you. With the right self care ideas, a few beauty favourites and a cosy setup, your next night in can feel like a spa at home.

Wind Down in Comfort

Swap your jeans for pyjamas and heels for UGGs, nothing says the day is done quite like stepping fully into your off-duty era. Think a matching Papinelle set, a soft robe or the kind of oversized shirt you’ll happily keep on well into the next morning. If pyjamas feel a little too committed, any type of loungewear does the job just as well. Add a pair of UGG slippers and your self-care night is officially underway.

Make this your cue to put your phone on charge somewhere out of reach, make a cup of tea and stop pretending you’re going to answer that email tonight. It can wait.

The Self Care Ideas: Skin, Hair & Beauty Tech

Now moving onto the beauty part of the evening, cleanse away any makeup or sunscreen from the day and gently pat skin dry. This is the time to reach for your LED mask, before applying the rest of your skincare. Different light settings are designed to target different concerns: red light can help soften the appearance of fine lines and dark spots, red and infrared light support collagen production and firmer-looking skin, while blue light is commonly used for blemish-prone skin.

Next comes the face mask. Choose a hydrating face mask when your skin is feeling dry or dull, or a sheet mask when you need an excuse to sit back and do very little for 15 minutes. Choose one based on what your skin needs that night, whether that’s extra hydration, a calming boost or a little more glow.

Once the mask is off, you may not need to follow with your full skincare routine, particularly if the formula has already left your skin feeling soft and hydrated. For a little extra moisture, apply a serum or moisturiser to help seal everything in. L'Occitane is worth a look when you want formulas that feel indulgent without making the routine overly complicated.

And while skincare tends to take centre stage, your hair deserves the same attention. After washing, gently towel-dry your hair so it is damp rather than dripping, then work a Coco & Eve hair mask through the mid-lengths and ends. Clip it up and leave it to absorb while you relax. When it’s time to dry or style, reach for gentler tools and lower heat where possible. Consider it a night off for your hair too.

Bring the Spa Home

Think about what makes a spa feel so relaxing in the first place: soft lighting, calming scents and a space that instantly makes you want to slow down. Bringing that same mood into your own home doesn’t need to be complicated. A few small changes can shift the atmosphere completely.

Start with scent. Light something from the candles and aromatherapy edit, dim the overhead lights and put on something relaxing in the background. It’s a simple way to make the room feel calmer almost instantly.

From there, layer in softer touches. A new quilt cover from Sheet Society can make the bedroom feel more inviting, while Mosey Me bedding brings a little more colour and personality into the space. Add a soft throw within reach and you’ve got the kind of setup that makes staying in feel like the plan.

The final step? Do less. Read a few pages, rewatch a favourite film or head to bed earlier than usual. The ultimate home spa kit isn’t really a kit at all. It’s whatever helps you switch off, settle in and give yourself a little time back.
