The year 1938 saw the launch of Armor Lux, a quality French clothing brand with nautical and sea-faring inspirations. Taking off in Quimper, the capital of the Finistere department of Brittany in northwestern France, the brand has grown steadily over the eighty years of its existence. Today, they employ 600 individuals across three production sites and 50 stores across France, and have recently partnered with THE ICONIC to bring their designs to Australia.
Beginning his brand at the age of 31, Walter Hubacher only had underwear design in mind. Although brand activity slowed during the Second World War, Armor Lux quickly got back on its feet, and released their first everyday-wear collection in 1970. Since then, Armor Lux has grown to cater for men and women by creating high quality clothing that appeals to everyone.
The brand follows staunch values of quality, innovation, and ethics. They signed a certification agreement with ECOCERT in 2009 in order to begin manufacturing and distributing products made from organic cotton, a sustainable fibre popular among those who like to shop ethically.
THE ICONIC currently sells a range of long and short sleeve men’s tees that keep on nautical trend. Bold stripes in red, blue and navy hues are most popular, while the occasional polo shirt or backpack can also be found. THE ICONIC also stocks select Armor Lux waterproof jackets, designed for the man with adventure on his mind.
