Bird House Wind Chime

Build & paint your own birdhouse, then hang it up and listen.
Two little birdhouses arrive flat, plain and full of potential. Kids slot the wooden pieces together (no glue, no fuss), then paint them however they like - snowy blue with a heart-shaped door, hot pink roof with a star window, stripes, spots, rainbows, whatever the day calls for. A sheet of sticky gems adds the sparkle, and butterfly and owl charms hang below on strings of chimes that catch the breeze.
Then it goes outside. On a branch, a balcony rail, a verandah hook - somewhere it can turn and shine and make a soft sound when the wind picks up. That's the best part, a craft project that doesn't end up in a drawer.
