Founded by Californian climber and surfer, Yvon Chouinard, Patagonia was born as a spin-off of Chouinard Equipment, a small shop near the Rincon surf breaks in California, who were known for making some of the world’s best climbing gear. The Fitz Roy Down Hoody is a packable, high-loft midweight jacket insulated with 800-fill-power down and equipped with an alpine-helmet-compatible hood.

- Light and durable recycled nylon ripstop shell, with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish
- Alpine helmet-compatible hood has a single-pull drawcord and a high-loft draft collar
- Two-way center-front Vislon® zipper with an internal storm flap allows for belay loop access
- Two handwarmer and two external, zippered chest pockets allow for easy access while belaying
- Soft, elasticized stitching at cuffs and a dual-adjust cord-lock system at the hem seal out the elements
