Shop Kathmandu at THE ICONIC

Kathmandu builds for weather that changes on you. A wet afternoon in Tasmania, a cold start in the Blue Mountains, a flight where the cabin runs cold and the arrival is colder. The gear is made to be packed down, pulled on, and packed away again.

The range at THE ICONIC covers four categories, each doing a different job.

  • Kathmandu Jackets: Epiq down puffers at 600 fill for everyday warmth, Heli insulated styles for travel and hiking, and the longline Winterburn for the coldest weeks. Browse all Kathmandu jackets.
  • Kathmandu Base Layers: KMDCore polypro dries fast and costs less. KMDMerino resists odour across several days. Both in thermal base layers.
  • Kathmandu Backpacks & Luggage: Gluon Beyond 18L for day walks, Cotinga Base 25L for overnight, Valorous 55L for longer trips, plus the Pack&Go Duffel. Shop packs and luggage.

Two names worth knowing before you choose. Fill power measures how much loft down gives per gram, so a 600 fill Epiq traps more air for its weight than a lower rating. ngx is Kathmandu's own waterproof membrane, used where a water-repellent finish alone would eventually soak through.

The range also runs to fleece pullovers like the Ridge 100 PrimaLoft, gloves and beanies, and outdoor equipment including Camper and Ridge sleeping bags, the Retreat 40 two-person tent and quick-drying microfibre towels. Kathmandu FAQs

What size Kathmandu pack do I need?

Pack sizes are measured in litres. 18–25L suits day walks, covering the Gluon Beyond 18L and Cotinga Base 25L, while the Valorous 55L is better for multi-day hikes or extended travel. For lightweight everyday use, the Pack&Go Pack folds into its own pocket. Compare sizes across the packs and luggage range.

Should I choose KMDCore or KMDMerino base layers?

Both sit against the skin as a first layer, but the fibre differs. KMDCore is quick-drying polypropylene, suited to high-output activity and everyday winter wear, while KMDMerino uses merino wool for warmth and odour resistance on multi-day trips. Both come as long-sleeve tops, with KMDCore also available as long johns.

Which Kathmandu sleeping bag do I need?

Sleeping bags are rated by temperature, so choose based on where and when you camp. The Camper 4 suits summer and mild spring nights, while the Camper 3 adds warmth for cooler conditions. The Ridge 2 is the warmest option for alpine and winter camping. Choose a bag length that suits your height for a better fit. The range also includes a kids’ sleeping bag and cotton liner.
